Until federal legalization takes place, the cannabis market is and will continue to be flooded with unregulated and unsafe products. Especially at a time when the stigma surrounding marijuana is still robust, the bad players can sometimes outweigh the good ones.
Born from a desire to bring safe, high quality cannabis products into the market, Sluggers offers pre-rolls, vapes, flower and live rosin. Built from the ground up by industry veterans Seth Sznapstajler, Josh Schmidt, Ori Bytton and Barry Rothbard, this quartet identified a gap in the market and hit a home run.
At the time when Sluggers first made its debut, “dispensaries were largely offering artificial terpene-infused joints made from trim,” says Seth Sznapstajler, VP of product & sales at Sluggers. “The Sluggers team set out to change that, creating the Sluggers Hit Juiced 5 Pack, which is a pre-roll made with 100% cannabis.”
What helped the brand really hit the ground running was the amount of experience that each founder brought to the table, all having grown and sold cannabis for years prior to Sluggers.
“Cannabis has been part of their DNA long before it was legal,” says Sznapstajler. “With over a century of combined experience across traditional and modern cannabis markets, the founders have seen it all.”
Getting Sluggers off the ground
Sznapstajler explains that while securing funding wasn’t a major challenge for the brand, perfecting the product took time. Heavy investment in R&D helped ensure that every Sluggers product met the founders’ standards.
The brand also follows a “Single Source” model, meaning they grow, extract and package each product on site. This all-in-one setup helps ensure better quality, efficiency and consistency since the merchandise isn’t being handled by a third party.
Sluggers’ new hemp product line
The Sluggers THC product line is currently only available in California, where it all began. However, the brand recently released Hemp/THCA products, which are now available nationwide, both online and in select tobacco stores.
“The new hemp product line was crafted to meet the growing demand in markets where traditional cannabis products are not yet legal,” says Sznapstajler. The new line includes:
- Juiced 5-Pack pre-rolls infused with THCA diamonds
- 2g blunts, also infused with THCA diamonds
- 2g vapes with tailored formulations for sativa, indica and hybrid lovers
- 3.5g hemp flower bags
“By maintaining the essence of our core brand, we created a line that’s both premium and accessible to a broader audience,” Sznapstajler adds. “This strategic move allows us to reach consumers nationwide while continuing to innovate.”
Sluggers is also expanding its THC product line, with launches planned for Arizona in February and Massachusetts in March, according to Sznapstajler. Additionally, plans are underway to bring the THC products to Michigan, New York and Canada.
