New England cannabis retailer Silver Therapeutics just opened its first dispensary in the greater Boston area, with the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony having taken place on September 6. The new location, called City Farm, is located at 721 American Legion Highway, Roslindale, MA 02131.

City Farm is Silver Therapeutics’ third dispensary in Massachusetts and its ninth dispensary overall, with other locations in Maine, New York and Vermont.

“We are excited to empower people in our community with our proprietary cannabis educational space at City Farm,” says Brendan McKee, co-founder, CFO and COO, Silver Therapeutics. “We will be offering industry training for employees and groups that have been disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs in addition to educational experiences for the general public.”

Promoting Education Around Cannabis

Taking the consumer experience a step beyond retail, City Farm is also providing a community space for neighborhood engagement through education and opportunity.

Through a partnership with cannabis education platform Green Flower, McKee says the dispensary is offering “expungement opportunities, retail operations training, repackaging and product manufacturing workshops and has opened up pathways for employment with local non-profit organizations like InnerCity Weightlifting. ICW works with former gang-involved youth and their families to create career opportunities across various types of wellness sectors.”

“We recognize that community is the cornerstone of our success and we are excited to collaborate with local businesses to uplift and empower them,” continues McKee. “We are actively working to build partnerships with various minority-owned cultivation and cannabis product manufacturing brands that are local to the Boston area.”

The Preferred Boston Dispensary

To prevent City Farm from becoming just another dispensary, especially in a place where cannabis is so popular, McKee has some plans up his sleeve to keep them at the forefront of customer’s minds.

“We have partnered with several local businesses and invest heavily in digital marketing by way of SEO, Weedmaps, Leafly, email and SMS marketing, as well as print ads,” he notes. “Our grand opening event featured live music, food trucks and live glass blowing. We definitely want City Farm to embrace the neighborhood and be the preferred local dispensary.”
