The Michigan Cannabis Manufacturers Association applauded Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s appointment of Cannabis Regulatory Agency and Michigan State Police veteran Brian Hanna to CRA Acting Executive Director.

The MCMA, which represents nearly half of all multiple Class C cannabis licenses in Michigan, said it looks forward to working with Hanna to address Michigan’s massive illicit market, and the need to increase enforcement in the licensed marketplace.

“The MCMA applauds Brian’s appointment to CRA Acting Executive Director as we continue to support a regulated cannabis marketplace that provides safe, high-quality cannabis products to Michigan consumers,” says Chair Shelly Edgerton. “Brian’s years of experience in CRA field investigations and law enforcement will be essential as we work to address Michigan’s illicit cannabis market and illegal activity in the licensed industry that threatens public health and puts jobs, businesses and opportunities at risk.”

“We look forward to working with Brian as Gov. Whitmer seeks a permanent appointment to lead the CRA,” she adds. “He clearly has the experience, background and credentials to ramp-up much-needed enforcement in the cannabis marketplace.”
